New boots

I have really tried to keep the January sale shopping to a minimum this year. Therefore, besides from some things I needed to exchange from Christmas, I really haven't gone shopping. However I have not managed to avoid looking at some of my favourite stores online and their sales. This has now resulted in me buying a new pair of boots! My excuses are pretty good if you ask me: 1. They were on sale and super cheap 2. I needed a pair of shoes that will be good for walking when I go to London next month(25 days!). 3. I deserve them for being so good at avoiding shopping... well at least I was before I bought the boots... The boots are from Zara. I really wish there was a Zara closer to where I live but the closest one is in Copenhagen.

Daisy daydreams

It snowed.
I'm dreaming of spring.
This is how I've tried to cope with it so far:

Magic in a cup

In December my friend and I made a tea advent calender for each other. This is how I discovered the magic power of licorice root. You can buy the licorice root already cut in small pieces. If you have a tea strainer it is very easy to make a cup of licorice root tea. You just put a teaspoon or two of the licorice in your strainer. Put it in your cup and then pour hot water over it. Let the licorice root infuse the water for about 5 minutes. Then it is ready to drink. You can also leave it in longer. The licorice root is naturally very sweet. The licorice root is so good for your throat and especially here in the winter time. It's like putting lotion on your skin except it is your throat. I have also really enjoyed adding a bit of licorice root to some of my favourice teas like this one from Pukka

Thrift shop finds

It's no secret I love thrift shopping. I think it's a great way to find some unique items. Yesterday I had some time to kill before my bus came so I decided to go to one of my favourite thrift shops. It's quite small but somehow I always manage to find something I love. Here is some of the things I bought yesterday:

I found this leather belt.
The pattern is very interesting and just me.
The other day my Danish teacher mentioned Hemingway. So when I saw this I had to get it.
It has two stories in it: Fifty Grand and The Undefeated.
I'm not very familiar with Hemingway and I've never read anything by him but I will give it a try.
I also found this top which I thought was pretty cool.
The material is thick and stretchy.
Since the top is cropped I think it will look good with some high waisted jeans or over a dress.

What the wise said #1

I  find seeing what other people think about life and all that good stuff inspiring. Whether I agree or not. Whether it is a friend or some famouse person. It helps me think about my own view on life and my thoughts thereof. I am a lover of well thought wording. One I paticularly have dear is this one by Emily Dickinson:

They might not need me; but they might
I'll let my head be just in sight;
A smile as small as mine might be
Precisely their necessity.

To me it is a great reminder. I admire those people who manage to have a smile on their face all the time. I am certainly not one of them. However keeping this in mind I am encouraged to strive to be one of those smiling people. I appreciate it when I am met by a smiling face. It is the smallest thing, but to me it improves any bad day I might be having. It is also a great reminder of how even the small things in life matter.
